Our History
Jorehaut Tea Company Ltd. was incorporated on 29th of June 1859. It is the second oldest tea plantation company in the world. Today, The Jorehaut Group Limited (TJGL) is part of the same heritage and legacy and is considered to be one of the finest producers of best quality Assam teas.
The Company was acquired by its existing promoters in 1983 and today operates 4 landmark plantations spread over 2,000 hectares with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities producing over 9 million kgs of premium quality tea annually. The Company also believes in giving back to the environment and society by indulging in sustainable agricultural practices, social welfare and development of its workforce with all its tea estates being Rain Forest Alliance and Trustea certified. In addition, in order to adhere to international quality and safety standards, all estates are also ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000:2018 and HACCP certified.

RFA
The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. They promote standards for sustainability that conserve wildlife and wetlands and ensure the well being of workers and their communities. Farms and agricultural enterprises that meet and continuously comply with their comprehensive criteria earn the right to use the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal.
TRUSTEA
The Trustea code encompasses all aspects of tea production and seeks to embrace sustainability principles to boost productivity,maintain safety standards to improve quality compliance and inclusion of small farmers in the mainstream.
HACCP
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) is a process control system designed to identify and prevent microbial and other hazards in food production. It includes steps designed to prevent problems before they occur and to correct deviations as soon as they are detected. Thus, all risks that might negatively affect the safety of our employees and quality of our product and ultimately the health of our customers are strictly controlled.
ISO
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer and publisher of International Standards. ISO 9001:2015 sets out the criteria for a quality management system. The standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. ISO 22000:2018 is a food safety management standard.
